Guident was proud to host the 5th Annual Autonomous Vehicle Conference, AVC 2026, bringing together more than 300 transportation leaders, technology innovators, public officials, researchers, and industry partners for a full day of discussion on the future of autonomous mobility.

 

Hosted in partnership with the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, this year’s conference focused on the technologies, partnerships, policies, and operational models needed to move autonomous transportation from pilot programs to scalable real-world deployment.

 

A highlight of the conference was welcoming Seval Oz, Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology at the U.S. Department of Transportation, who delivered the keynote address on the path toward broader autonomous mobility adoption. During her visit to South Florida, Assistant Secretary Oz also toured Guident’s headquarters, met with the team, and visited the company’s Remote Monitor and Control Center.

The strong attendance and engagement throughout the day reflected the growing momentum behind autonomous transportation and reinforced the importance of collaboration across government, transit agencies, technology providers, academia, and industry partners. Discussions throughout the conference centered on safety, public trust, connected infrastructure, and the operational frameworks required to bring autonomous mobility into everyday transportation.

 

The conference concluded with an announcement from JTA CEO Nat Ford, who shared that AVC 2027 will be hosted in Jacksonville. Guident thanks our speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, partners, and attendees for helping make AVC 2026 one of our most successful conferences to date.

David Vega Sotolongo presents Guident's research 

Guident’s commitment to advancing safe and scalable autonomous vehicle operations was on display at ITS America 2026, where R&D Technical Lead David Vega Sotolongo presented the company’s work on human-in-the-loop systems and the role of human oversight in supporting autonomous vehicle deployment.

 

The presentation highlighted how remote monitoring, remote assistance, and human-assisted intervention can help bridge the gap between successful pilots and the operational complexity of real-world urban environments. As autonomous vehicle programs continue to evolve, human-in-the-loop technology remains a critical layer for improving safety, reliability, and public trust.

 

In addition to Guident’s technical presentation, CEO Harald Braun participated in strategic planning meetings with the ACES Mobility Coalition, joining industry leaders to help shape priorities for advancing shared autonomous transportation. Throughout the conference, Guident also met with transportation agencies, technology innovators, and mobility partners to exchange ideas and strengthen relationships across the intelligent transportation ecosystem.

Guident Completes Autonomous Shuttle Integration Project at FSCJ

The Olli autonomous shuttle at FSCJ

Guident recently completed a successful autonomous shuttle integration project with Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), marking another milestone in the company’s work to support remote monitoring, teleoperation, and operator training for autonomous vehicles.

 

As part of the project, Guident integrated its remote support and teleoperation system into FSCJ’s Olli autonomous shuttle and installed a Remote Monitor and Control Center that enables operators to monitor and control the vehicle through Guident’s software platform. The system successfully completed an Acceptance Test Plan and was formally accepted by the college.

 

The project also included hands-on training for FSCJ students, who participated in system testing and learned to operate the Olli using Guident’s remote operator interface. The integrated shuttle and monitoring system will support the development of FSCJ’s Remote Operator training program, giving students practical experience with technologies expected to play an important role in the future of autonomous transportation.

WatchBot 2 Expands Guident’s Autonomous Inspection and Surveillance Solutions

Guident is also introducing WatchBot 2, the next generation of autonomous inspection and surveillance robotics, as part of its growing portfolio of intelligent mobility and remote monitoring solutions.

 

Designed for security, inspection, and facility monitoring applications, WatchBot 2 combines autonomous navigation, artificial intelligence, high-resolution cameras, thermal sensing, and robust mobility to support continuous monitoring across complex environments. The platform is built to operate in both indoor and outdoor settings, helping organizations extend visibility across facilities, perimeters, infrastructure, and other operational areas where safety, security, and real-time awareness are critical.

 

The latest WatchBot 2 enhancements include advanced PTZ camera capabilities, improved low-light and night vision performance, 360-degree video recording, thermal imaging, LiDAR sensing, 4G and 5G connectivity, and up to 16 hours of autonomy. These capabilities are especially valuable for industrial, logistics, energy, security, campus, and critical infrastructure environments where continuous monitoring and rapid situational awareness can improve operational response.

 

For Guident, WatchBot 2 represents more than an autonomous robot. Integrated with the GuideOn platform, the solution enables remote oversight, scheduling, smart alerts, diagnostics, and operator support through a centralized software platform. This human-in-the-loop approach allows organizations to combine robotic autonomy with remote supervision, creating a more scalable model for inspection, surveillance, and facility monitoring.
